Ben Darkwa, born in Ghana, West Africa, is a Civil Engineer, Entrepreneur, film producer and Author, now living in the United Kingdom. At only 5 years old, he had hopes of becoming an engineer and musician. Ben would often dismantle items just so that he could put them back together again. By the time he was 9 years old, he had began creating model bridges. He would even make cars from tin milk cans. When he wasn’t building, Ben would practice his other passion, music. He sang in his church choir and also played piano and the Ghanaian flute.
While growing up, Ben’s heart and mind became torn between music and engineering. Thankfully, the GCSC O’level at St Augustine’s College in Cape Coast, Ghana, offered him the unique opportunity to combine music and science. After becoming a National Service Teacher in Takoradi, Ghana, Ben was taught, and soon after, began teaching choreography. In this role, Ben wrote his first stage play, which was later performed by the Star Of The Sea Cathedral Youth Club Drama Troop.
Ben soon relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue his engineering career. After attending Bellerbys College of Cambridge and Queen Mary University of London, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering by 2001. Graduating with honors, helped him to progress through the engineering field. Today, his hard work and dedication have gained him a role in Project Management, working in some of the most reputable projects in the United Kingdom.
